Farida Sedoc is a visual artist based in Amsterdam. Long-time friend and collaborator on our last year Keti Koti graphic T-Shirt as well as being a featured artist in Chapter 1NE, an exhibition curated by Patta Co-founders Edson Sabajo and Guillaume ‘Gee’ Schmidt. Originally the concept of the project was to create several in-store workshops surrounding black hair but due to social distancing, the project changed shape. This summer capsule collection is inspired by this Patta hair salon idea where we asked Farida to assist us in creating a series of 3 graphic T-Shirts, a Silk Scarf and a Toiletry Bag.
The Patta x Farida Sedoc Hands T-Shirt comes in a 180gsm BCI cotton, the front of the piece features a monotone premium silk screen print of a Farida illustration of a coin. With the otherside of the coin featuring on the back of the tee.
On the design, Farida commented, ‘
With my continued re/imagining of money flows, trade and exchange, I wanted to create a Patta coin combining their powerful, again classic phrase; "Patta got love for all" together with the first coin issued by the United States (1794 and 1795) –
The Flowing Hair Coin.’
Branding is then finished with a woven tab just above the hem of the piece.
Made in Vietnam.
Cotton.
